Churros are deep fried sticks of dough, sugar sprinkled, and served with warm chocolate sauce for dipping. Although churros are traditional in Spain and Portuguese, it is believed that churros actually originated in China, where the Portuguese first tasted youtiao, which are golden fried salty pastry eaten for breakfast. When the Portuguese came home, they recreated the delicacy but added sugar instead of flour. Churros are typically eaten for breakfast but they are also a favorite after-party snack. They are served in churrerías in Spain, which are often the first eateries to open in the morning and the last to close at night. Churros are easy to make, you don’t even need to knead the dough. With this recipe, you can make and enjoy this crispy, crunchy, tasty delicacy anytime.
