How To Make Tofu Curry & Kare Pan

Delicious tofu curry recipe is best paired with steaming hot rice on a chilly day. Nothing goes to waste! Leftover tofu curry can be made into kare pan. The curry is stuffed into bread, coated with breadcrumbs, and fried or baked until crunchy. Once you take a bite, you will satisfy your cravings for something crunchy and meaty.



Ingredients:

Tofu Curry
• 300 grams of cotton tofu
• 250 grams of ground pork
• 1 onion, minced
• 2 tbsp of flour
• 1 tbsp of curry powder
• 1 tbsp of soy sauce
• 1 tbsp of Worshterchire sauce
• 5 to 10 grams of ginger, grated
• 5 to 10 grams of garlic, grated
• 200 ml of canned tomato
• Oil
• One-fifth of a cup of water

Kare Pan
• 2 slices of white bread
• 2 eggs, beaten
• Panko (Japanese bread crumbs)
• Tofu curry as the filling



Instructions:

This recipe takes about 45 minutes to make. Serves 2.

Tofu Curry
First, drain the tofu in kitchen paper. Set aside.
Place a frying pan over low heat and pour oil until it covers the pan. Add the onions.
Once the onions become translucent, add the ginger and garlic. Fry until fragrant.
Next, add the ground pork to the pan. Cook until the pork becomes brown.
Sprinkle the flour and curry powder. Mix well until the flour is cooked through.
Pour the canned tomato, Worshterchire sauce, and soy sauce into the pan.
Mix well together and add water.
Remove the kitchen paper from the tofu. Using your hands, break the tofu into smaller pieces and add to the pan.
Simmer for 20 minutes and serve with steamed rice.

Kare Pan
Remove the edges of the bread.
Using your fingers, press all the edges of the bread.
Brush the eggs on the edges of the bread.
Add a spoonful of tofu curry in on the bread.
Close the two slices of bread together and press the edges with your fingers.
Roll the bread the egg and then in the Panko.
There are two options: deep-fry the bread in 340F oil, or roast the Panko first and then bake the bread at 375F for 15 minutes.

Ideas and Tips:

• Aside from ground pork, you can use beef. turkey or even finely diced chicken meat.

• The tofu curry can also be used over pasta. Sprinkle some cheese on top, and you’re ready to go.
