Chocolate Lava Cake Recipe | How To Make Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

Molten chocolate lava cake is a soft and delicious dessert that originated from France. It’s a combination of chocolate, butter, eggs and flour. Lava cake has a firm outside cake layer but a liquid inside layer – like lava coming out of a volcano. 🙂

Ingredients:

• 6 ramekins/molds
• some butter (for greasing)
• some cocoa powder (for dusting)
• some powdered sugar (for dusting)

• 6 oz dark chocolate (chopped)
• 1/2 cup butter (cubed)
• 3 eggs
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 2 tbsp flour

Instructions:

Prepare six molds or ramekins.
Grease each mold with butter.
Dust each mold with cocoa powder.
Place in the fridge.

Meanwhile, make the batter.
Add chopped dark chocolate and cubed butter into a bowl.
Place it on a double boiler.
Stir until chocolate and butter melt.
Once melted, remove from the double boiler.
Set aside and let it cool for a few minutes.

In a separate mixing bowl, add three eggs and sugar.
Season with salt.
Whisk until the mixture is thick.
Add flour.
Whisk until flour is well incorporated.
Gradually add the chocolate and butter mixture while whisking.
Continue to whisk until well combined.

Remove the molds from the fridge.
Fill each mold with the batter.
Place inside the oven.
Let it bake for 7-9 minutes at 180 C.
Once edges are firm, remove from the oven.
Let it cool for a minute.
Remove the mini cakes from the molds.
Dust each with powdered sugar.
Serve with ice cream.

• 3 medium eggs

• 1 tsp vanilla essence
• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup cocoa powder

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Prepare a 7 x 7-inch baking pan.
Grease lightly with butter and line with parchment paper.
Set aside.

Cut the semi-sweet dark chocolate into smaller pieces.
Put the pieces in a bowl.
Add butter.
Melt the butter and chocolate pieces on a double broiler.
Once melted, set aside and let it cool.

Prepare another bowl.
Add granulated sugar and brown sugar.
Add three eggs one at a time.
Mix until well combined after each egg is added.
Add salt and vanilla essence.
Add the melted chocolate mix.
Mix until well combined.
Sift through all-purpose flour and cocoa powder.
Fold the mixture gently until well combined.
Pour the mixture into the parchment-lined baking pan.
Gently shake and tap the pan to evenly distribute the mixture.
Place inside the preheated oven.
Let it bake for 30 minutes.
Once done, remove from the oven.
Let it cool.
Slice for serving.

Ingredients:

• 3 cups finely shredded carrots
• 2 cups chopped walnuts

Batter:

• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups granulated sugar
• 3 tsp baking soda
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1 tsp ground clove
• 1 tsp ground nutmeg
• 1 tsp allspice
• 1 cup unsweetened apple sauce
• 1 cup crushed pineapple
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 5 large eggs
• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Mix:

• 16 oz softened cream cheese
• 1 cup softened butter
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 3 cups sugar

• some chopped walnuts (for garnishing)

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Prepare three 9-inch cake rounds.
Grease lightly with butter or oil and line the bottom with parchment paper.

Prepare a large mixing bowl.
Add all-purpose flour and granulated sugar.
Add baking soda and baking powder.
Season with salt, ground cinnamon, ground clove, ground nutmeg and allspice.
Mix to combine using an electric hand mixer.
Add unsweetened apple sauce, crushed pineapple and vegetable oil.
Add eggs and vanilla extract.
Mix to combine the batter using an electric hand mixer.
Add the finely shredded carrots into the batter.
Add chopped walnuts.
Fold the mixture using a spatula to mix well.
Pour the batter on each cake round equally.
Spread and distribute evenly.
Place them in the preheated oven.
Let them bake for 30-35 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the cream cheese mixture.
Add softened cream cheese and softened butter in a bowl.
Whisk until well combined.
Add vanilla extract and sugar.
Whisk until the mixture is smooth and soft.
Put the cream cheese mix in a piping bag.
Place in the fridge for a few minutes.

Once carrot cakes are done, remove them from the oven.
Let them cool down for 15 minutes.
Once done, remove the cake from the cake rounds.
Remove the parchment paper.
Place one carrot cake on a cake table turner.
Pipe cream cheese on top and spread evenly.
Add the second carrot cake on top.
Pipe cream cheese on top and spread evenly.
Add the third carrot cake on top.
Pipe cream cheese on top and around the sides of the carrot cake stack.
Smoothen the cream cheese around.
Garnish with chopped walnuts.
Decorate the cake with the rest of the cream cheese mix.
Cut the cake into equal slices.
