Smothered Chicken And Gravy Recipe | Comfort Food

sSmothered chicken is a perfect main dish for a weekend brunch or dinner with friends. More flavor is incorporated with its special gravy – a mix of onions, seasonings, chicken stock, cream and flour.

Ingredients:

• 6-8 chicken thighs
• olive oil
• salt and black pepper to taste
• 2 cups chicken stock
• 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp paprika
• 1/2 tsp chili powder
• 2 tsp oregano
• 1/2 tsp crushed pepper
• 2 tsp granulated onion
• 2 tsp minced garlic
• 2 tbsp butter
• 1 small yellow onion (roughly chopped)

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 425 F.

Prepare a small bowl.
Add paprika, chili powder, oregano and granulated onion.
Mix well and set aside seasoning mix.

Prepare a large mixing bowl.
Add 3-4 chicken thighs in the bowl.
Season with the seasoning mix.
Add the rest of the chicken thighs.
Season with the seasoning mix.
Sprinkle salt and black pepper to taste.
Toss to coat well.
Set aside.

Prepare another mixing bowl.
Add all-purpose flour.
Add the rest of the seasoning mix.
Sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.
Whisk to combine.
Dip and coat the seasoned chicken thighs into the flour mixture.

Set an oven-proof frying pan over medium-high heat.
Add some oil to pan-fry the chicken.
Add coated chicken thighs and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side.
Once done, transfer chicken thighs to a baking sheet and set aside.
In the same pan, add chopped onion.
Saute for 3-4 minutes or until soft.
Add minced garlic and crushed pepper.
Saute for a minute.
Add butter and melt it.
Once it melts, add a few tablespoons of the remaining flour mixture.
Stir until well combined.
Gradually pour chicken stock while stirring.
Gradually add heavy whipping cream while stirring.
Add back the fried chicken.
Spoon the sauce over the chicken.
Switch off the heat and place the pan inside the preheated oven.
Let it bake for an hour.
Once done, remove from the oven.
Spoon the sauce over the chicken.
Serve with rice.

White Strawberry Tart Recipe

White strawberry tart is a perfect afternoon snack or dessert idea. It is a baked dish that primarily consists of pastry and custard cream. A generous layer of halved white strawberries is then added as toppings. You can also add some whipped cream for additional topping.

Ingredients:

Dough:

• 60 grams butter (softened)
• 30 grams powdered sugar
• 1 egg yolk
• 100 grams cake flour

Custard Cream:

• 250 grams milk
• 20 grams + 40 grams sugar
• 3 egg yolks
• 20 grams cornstarch
• 1 tsp vanilla extract

Almond Cream:

• 40 grams butter (softened)
• 30 grams powdered sugar
• 1 beaten egg
• 6 grams cornstarch
• 60 grams almond flour

• 16 white strawberries (sliced in half)
• some whipped cream (optional for toppings)

Instructions:

Dough:

Prepare a mixing bowl.
Add softened butter.
Sift in powdered sugar.
Mix until well combined.
Add an egg yolk.
Sift in cake flour.
Mix until well combined.
Transfer the mixture into a clingfilm.
Wrap it around tightly and place it in the fridge to chill.

Custard Cream:

Prepare a small pot.
Add 250 grams of milk and 20 grams of sugar.
Set the pot over medium heat.
Stir well to combine.
Bring to a boil.

In a mixing bowl, add three egg yolks and 40 grams of sugar.
Whisk to combine.
Add 20 grams of cornstarch.
Whisk to combine.
Add half of the boiled milk mixture into the yolk mixture.
Whisk to combine.
Add the rest of the boiled milk mixture, then whisk to combine.
Pour the mixture into the same pot.
Set it over medium heat.
Continue to whisk until the mixture turns into a smooth and soft cream.
Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
Whisk to combine.
Once well incorporated, remove from the heat.
Transfer into a bowl.
Cover it with a plastic wrap and place it in the fridge to chill.

Almond Cream:

In a mixing bowl, add 40 grams of softened butter and 30 grams of powdered sugar.
Mix until well combined.
Add half of the beaten egg, then mix to combine.
Add 6 grams of cornstarch, then mix to combine.
Add 60 grams of almond flour, then mix to combine.
Add the remaining beaten egg.
Mix well to combine.
Set aside.

Assembly:

Preheat oven to 180 C.

Dust a work surface with some flour.
Remove the dough from the fridge and lightly knead it on the work surface.
Flatten it using a rolling pin.
Make it into a wider dough than the tart mold.
Put the dough into the tart mold and cut off excess.
Poke holes on the dough and press firmly along the sides of the mold.
Spread almond cream into the mold evenly.
Place it inside the preheated oven.
Let it bake for 25-30 minutes.
Once done, remove from the oven.

Remove the custard cream from the fridge.
Using an electric hand mixer, beat the custard cream to soften.
Fold the mixture, then transfer it into a piping bag.
Pipe it on the top of the tart.
Top it off with halved white strawberries to decorate.
You can also add whipped cream for additional topping.
Serve and enjoy!

Only 3 Ingredient Double Chocolate Mousse In 20 Minutes

Double chocolate mousse is a sweet dessert perfect for a weeknight party or family dinner. A layer of dark and white chocolate mixed with whipped cream is a great way of ending a party or a dinner. Prepare it in the afternoon and chill it in the fridge for a few hours – and sprinkle some cinnamon if you like additional flavor to this mousse.

Ingredients:

• 100 grams white chocolate (chopped)
• 100 grams semi-sweet dark chocolate (chopped)
• 200 ml whipping cream + 300 ml cold whipping cream

Instructions:

This recipe yields four mousse cups.

Put chopped white chocolate in a bowl.
Put chopped semi-sweet dark chocolate in another bowl.
Set aside.

Set a saucepot over medium heat.
Add 200 ml of whipping cream into the pot.
Let it simmer.
Once it starts to simmer, remove it from the heat.
Pour half of the cream into the bowl of white chocolate.
Pour the remaining half into the bowl of dark chocolate.
Leave it for 5 minutes until chocolates melt.
Stir each mixture until well combined.
Set aside.

Prepare a large mixing bowl.
Add 300 ml of cold whipping cream.
Whip it using a hand mixer.
Continue to whip until soft peak stiffs.
Divide the mixture in half.
You now have two separate bowls of whipped cream.
Into the first bowl of whipped cream, add the white chocolate mixture in portions.
Whip the mixture each portion you add.
Continue to whip until well combined.
Do the same with the dark chocolate mixture and the other half of whipped cream.

Prepare four small cups.
Add 3-4 tbsp of dark chocolate cream mixture into each cup.
Gently tap the cups to spread evenly.
Add 2-3 tbsp of white chocolate cream mixture on top of each cup.
Gently tap the cups to spread evenly.
Place the cups in the fridge.
Let them chill for 3-4 hours.
After 3-4 hours, remove from the fridge.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
