Crunchy Fried Mushrooms Recipe | Breaded Mushrooms

Preparing for a weekend dinner? Try this “juicy on the inside, yet crispy on the outside” fried mushroom appetizer to kickstart your meal. It only needs mushrooms coated in a flavorful batter and breadcrumbs. Now you’re talking! 🙂

Ingredients:

For the mushrooms:
• 300 grams Portobello or Chestnut mushrooms (sliced thickly)
• 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
• 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp dried oregano
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
• 2/3 cup water
• 1/4 tsp black pepper
• 1/4 tsp paprika
• Oil (for frying)

For the sauce:
• 3 tbsp mayonnaise
• 4 tbsp chili sauce

Instructions:

This recipe takes about 30 minutes. Serves 6.

For the mushrooms:
In a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, dried oregano, and baking powder.
Stir the ingredients until well combined.
Add water gradually while continuing to stir the mixture.
Whisk until smooth.
Dip the thickly sliced mushrooms into the mixture.
Coat with breadcrumbs.

Set a frying pan over medium heat.
Add oil and let it heat.
Place the mushrooms into the pan.
Let it fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Flip on the other side and fry for another 1 minute.
Transfer to a paper towel to drain excess oils.

For the sauce:
Mix chili sauce and mayonnaise.

Serve and enjoy!
