“Meaty” Vegan Burger Recipe

Burgers are one of the most favorite comfort foods of people of different ages. Its juicy and meaty patty makes it irresistible. However, if you are going on a vegan diet, you may not be into this “un”-healthy dish. To satisfy your cravings, you’ll love this vegan burger recipe! Enjoy the taste of that “meaty” burger with a vegan twist.

Ingredients:

• 2 cups hot vegetable broth
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
• 1 teaspoon regular or smoked paprika
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
• 1.5 cups vital wheat gluten
• 2/3 cup dry TVP
• 1/2 teaspoon molasses
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 1/4 cup vegan ketchup
• 1/4 cup vegan Worcestershire sauce
• 6 tbsp unbleached whole wheat flour

Instructions:

Preheat oven at 350ºF.
Prepare a baking dish and line it with parchment paper.
On a large mixing bowl, put dry TVP, hot vegetable broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, molasses, and olive oil.
Add the spices – smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, pepper, and nutritional yeast.
Pour the whole wheat flour.
Mix everything well.
Add vital wheat gluten.
Mix thoroughly until it becomes a dough.
Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
Form patties and place them on the baking dish.
Cover it with foil.
Place inside the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes.
Assemble it with buns, green leafy veggies and tomatoes.
Serve and enjoy!
