Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, add 1 1/2 cups of warm water.
Add 1 tbsp each of salt and sugar.
Mix well to combine.
Add 1 packet of active dry yeast.
Leave it for five minutes.
Add 4 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour and 2 tbsp of oil.
Mix well to combine until dough forms.
Add some oil into the bowl for greasing.
Cover the bowl with clingfilm.
Set aside for an hour in a warm place.
After an hour, the dough should increase in size.
Peel away the clingfilm.
Transfer to a work surface and divide into 8 equal portions.
Form each dough into a long thin rope, then shape into pretzels.

Preheat oven to 450 F.

Set a large pot over medium-high flame.
Fill it with water.
Add 2/3 cup of baking soda.
Stir to combine.
Let it boil.
Once it starts to boil, add the pretzels and boil for 30 seconds on each side.
Once done, transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush each pretzel with egg wash.
Place inside the preheated oven.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
