Simple And Easy Chicken Pulao – Indian Chicken Rice Bowl Recipe
Pulao is a rice bowl dish very common across the territory of India. It mainly consists of rice, meat, vegetables, and seasonings. It is a quick and easy dish to make, but once made is very tasty and satisfying.
Ingredients:
For chicken and marination:
• 500 grams chicken (big pieces with bones)
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon lime juice
• 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
For green paste:
• 1 inch ginger (chopped)
• 5 cloves garlic
• 1/2 cup coriander leaves
• 5 green chili (chopped)
Other ingredients:
• 2 cups (400 grams) rice
• 2 medium onions (sliced)
• 1 medium fried onion
• 1 medium tomato (sliced)
• 14-20 mint leaves
• 2 bay leaves
• 1/2 teaspoon Shahjeera
• 1 teaspoon coriander powder
• 1.25 teaspoon Garam masala
• 3 tbsp refined oil
• 1.5 teaspoon salt
• Water
Instructions:
This recipe takes about 35 minutes. Serves 4.
For chicken and marination:
Put chicken in a bowl.
Add salt, turmeric powder, and lime juice.
Mix until chicken is well coated.
Set aside for 30 minutes.
For green paste:
Put ginger, garlic, coriander leaves, and green chilies in a food processor.
Blend until it reaches the desired texture.
Set aside.
For rice:
Wash rice.
Soak for 30 minutes.
Drain.
Set aside.
Set a heavy bottom pan over medium heat.
Add oil and let it heat.
Add Shahjeera and bay leaves.
Stir for a minute.
Add onions and saute for 7-8 minutes or until lightly brown.
Add tomatoes and stir for a few minutes or until tomato softens.
Season with salt.
Add marinated chicken and increase heat to high.
Let it fry for 4-5 minutes.
Add green paste, coriander powder, and Garam masala.
Reduce to medium heat and continue to fry for 4-5 minutes.
Add a splash of water.
Add mint leaves and continue to fry.
Reduce to low heat and let it fry for another 3 minutes.
Add the soaked and drained rice.
Mix all ingredients for about 2 minutes.
Add 3 cups of water.
Mix, then add salt to taste.
Mix well and bring to a boil.
Cover and let it cook for 10 minutes on low heat.
Stir gently and cover.
Cook for another 10 minutes.
Add fried onion on top.
Let it cool for a few minutes.
Transfer to a plate and serve!
