Ingredients:
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 rosemary sprig
• ½ green bell pepper, sliced
• ½ red bell pepper, sliced
• ½ yellow bell pepper, sliced
• 1 onion, diced
• 1 tsp poultry powder
• 1 cup of sliced button mushrooms
• 1 tsp lemon juice
• 1 tsp Bragg liquid aminos
• 2 Amoroso rolls
• 2 slices of Provolone cheese
• 2 tsp veganaise
Instructions:
This recipe takes about 25 minutes to make. Serves 2 sandwiches.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add rosemary and toast in the oil for 1 minute.
Add bell peppers and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add onions and poultry powder.
Stir-fry for 2 minutes.
Add mushrooms and continue stir-frying for 1 minute.
Add lemon juice and Bragg liquid aminos.
Stir, then let the vegetable medley cook for another minute.
Split open the Amoroso rolls in half lengthwise.
Spread the inner part of the rolls with vegnaise, then put a slice of Provolone cheese on each roll.
Divide the sautéed vegetable medley into 2 portions.
Fill each Amoroso roll with a portion of the sautéed veggie mix and serve.
Ideas And Tips:
Aside from mushroom, you can use tempeh, green jackfruit or seitan.
Amoroso rolls are long, soft, and slightly salted. In Philadelphia, most cheesesteak places use these. If they are not available in your area, you can use hoagie rolls, bastone, Portuguese rolls, bolillos, Cuban rolls or demi-baguette.
Aside from Provolone, you can use Havarti, Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, pepper jack, cream cheese, American cheese, mozzarella or Cheez Whiz.
You may substitute Bragg liquid aminos with tamari, liquid seasoning, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, coconut aminos or skinny seasoning.
