One of the famous Mexican dishes is given a twist! Enjoy your weekend with this flavorful spiral fajita pie. It only takes about 30 minutes to prepare and you’ll have a delicious dinner! You can serve with salsa or guacamole and add something spicy for more taste.
Ingredients:
For chicken filling:
• 200 grams boneless chicken (boiled and shredded)
• 1 tbsp cooking oil
• 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
• 1 medium capsicum (julienned)
• 1 medium onion (sliced)
• 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp red chili (crushed)
• 1 tbs peri-peri sauce
• 1 tbs chili garlic sauce
• 1 tbs vinegar
• 2 tsp soy sauce
• 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
• 1/4 cup cheddar cheese (grated)
For the fajita pie:
• flour (for dusting)
• 5 frozen paratha
• water and dry flour (for sealing paratha)
• Melted butter (for greasing)
• 1 egg (whisked)
Instructions:
This recipe takes about 30 minutes. Serves 3-4.
For chicken filling:
Set a pan over medium-high heat.
Heat 1 tbs oil.
Saute 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
Add boiled and shredded chicken.
Let it cook for a minute.
Add julienned capsicum and sliced onion.
Stir for a minute.
Season with 1/2 tsp black pepper powder, 1/2 tsp red chili, 1 tbs peri-peri sauce, 1 tbs chili garlic sauce, 1 tbs vinegar, 2 tsp soy sauce, and 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce.
Add salt to taste.
Cook for 2-3 minutes over medium heat.
Remove from heat and let it cool.
Add 1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese.
Mix until well combined.
Set aside.
For the fajita pie:
On a flat board or surface, dust with flour.
Lay the frozen parathas connecting the edges by damping water.
Cut the top and bottom parts to form a rectangular paratha.
Place the chicken fillings in the center.
Roll the paratha like a wrap and secure by damping water.
On a baking sheet, grease lightly with melted butter.
Put the rolled paratha and form into a spiral.
Option 1: Baking
Preheat oven at 180 C.
Bake the spiral pie for 18 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Coat top portion of the pie with whisked egg.
Bake it again for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve and enjoy!
Option 2: Frying
Make a smaller size of the spiral pie. You can use 2 frozen paratha for this.
Set a pan over medium-low heat.
Heat cooking oil.
Place the spiral pie into the pan.
Let it fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
Serve and enjoy!
