This is a yummy and crispy chicken burger with a spicy kick! It’s simple recipe to prepare and perfect for a weeknight Netflix session. Prepare a spicy mix that will definitely add extra flavor to this chicken burger. You can opt to add more toppings like tomato and onion slices. 1/2 kg chicken thigh should make approx 4 burgers, depending on how big you like them! Adjust accordingly for additional burgers.
Ingredients:
Crispy Chicken:
• 1/2 kg chicken thigh (deboned, skinless)
• 3 cups water
• 1 1/2 tsp salt
• 2-3 tbsp vinegar
• 3 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
• 1 1/2 tbsp chicken powder
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp red chili powder
• 1 1/2 cups water
• cooking oil (for frying)
Burger Sauce:
• 1/2 cup mayonnaise
• 2 tbsp hot sauce
• 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
• 1 1/2 tsp mustard paste
• pinch of salt
Spice Mix:
• 1/2 tbsp “chicken powder”
• 1 tsp paprika powder
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1 tsp black pepper
• 1 1/2 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp cumin powder
• 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
• 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
• Burger bun
• some mayonnaise
• some chopped iceberg lettuce
• cheddar cheese slice
• some jalapeno slices
Instructions:
For Crispy Chicken:
Put chicken thigh pieces on a cutting board.
Pound the chicken by using a meat mallet.
Place the chicken thighs in a bowl.
Pour 3 cups of water.
Add salt and vinegar.
Mix well, then cover the bowl.
Set aside and let it rest for 2-3 hours.
In a mixing bowl, add sifted all-purpose flour.
Season with chicken powder, garlic powder, and red chili powder.
Mix until well blended.
Set aside.
After 2-3 hours, remove the chicken from the water and vinegar mixture.
Coat with the flour mixture.
Dip in water, then coat again with the flour mixture.
Deep-fry for 7-8 minutes in a pan of cooking oil over low heat.
Once golden brown, remove from the pan.
Transfer to a plate and set aside.
Burger Sauce:
In a bowl, add mayonnaise, hot sauce, tomato ketchup, mustard paste, and salt to taste.
Mix until well blended.
Set aside.
Spice Mix:
In a container, add all ingredients for the spice mix.
Cover the container and shake well to combine the spices.
Set aside.
Assembly:
Place crispy chicken on a chopping board.
Sprinkle spice mix.
Set aside.
Lay a bottom bun and spread mayonnaise.
Add chopped iceberg lettuce, followed by the crispy chicken.
Place cheddar cheese slice on top of the chicken.
Add chopped iceberg lettuce and sliced jalapenos.
Drizzle with burger sauce.
Cover with the top bun.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
