Vegan Double-Double Burgers And Hot Dogs

Even meat lovers will love these vegan style hotdogs and burgers.

Ingredients:

Vegan Hotdog:

• 2 pcs vegan sausage
• 1 red bell pepper
• 1 yellow bell pepper
• 1 red onion
• Sunflower oil
• Salt
• Pepper
• Hot dog buns

Double-double Burger:

Burger Patties
• 1 package (8-ounce) of tempeh
• 2 tbsp of olive oil
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 2 cloves of minced garlic
• 1 cup (15-ounce) can of lentils
• 1 cup of toasted walnuts
• Half a cup of all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp of dried basil
• 1 tsp of sea salt
• 1 tsp of ground black pepper
• 3 tbsp of canola oil

Special Burger Sauce:

• 2/3 cup of tofu
• 1 clove of garlic
• 1 tbsp of mustard
• 3 tbsp of ketchup
• 1 tbsp of agave
• Half a tsp of salt
• 2 tbsp of pickle relish
• 1 tbsp of fresh dill

• 8 burger buns
• Optional toppings: sliced tomato, sliced onion, lettuce, pickles

Instructions:

Vegan Hotdog

This recipe takes 15 minutes to make. Serves 2.

Slice the bell peppers and red onion into thin strips.
Place them in a bowl and season with sunflower oil, salt, and pepper.
Preheat grill.
Cook on the grill for 10 to 12 minutes.
Slice sausages in half and cook n the grill for 3 minutes.
Grill hot dog bun for 1 minute.
Place sausage in the hotdog bun and garnish with grilled vegetables.

Double-double Burger

This recipe takes 30 to 35 minutes to make. Serves 4.

Break tempeh into smaller chunks and place in a steamer for 20 minutes.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Sauté onions and garlic until tender.
Transfer onions and garlic to a food processor.
Drain and rinse lentils.
Place tempeh, lentils, walnuts, flour, basil, salt, and pepper into the food processor.
Pulse until mixture is fine.
Form patties using hands.
Fry the patties until golden brown.
To make the special sauce, put tofu, garlic, mustard, ketchup, agave, and salt in a blender. Pulse until smooth and garnish with relish and dill.
Place burger patty on a burger bun. Spread special sauce. Add toppings.
Place another burger bun, patty, sauce, and toppings on top.

• Tempeh is a soy product that originates from Indonesia. It goes through a fermentation process that binds soybeans into a cake form. Tempeh is used all over the world in vegetarian cuisine as a meat alternative.

• Uncooked burger patties can be kept in the fridge up to 5 days. The special sauce can be stored in the fridge for 3 days.
