Homemade Beef Chili Recipe – Easy Recipe for Chili

A homemade beef chili made with tender ground beef, pinto beans, and spices is the best dish for that cold weather or just to celebrate a good day. This recipe takes about 30-40 minutes. You can add jalapenos or chili peppers to make it tastier and spicier.


• 3 lbs ground beef
• 5 cloves garlic (minced)
• 1 medium to large onion (finely chopped)
• 3 tsp ground cumin
• 3 tsp onion powder
• 3 tsp garlic powder
• 3 tsp smoked paprika
• 6 tbsp chili powder
• 3 tbsp tomato paste
• 2 tbsp adobo sauce
• 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
• 7 cups low sodium beef broth
• 2 x 15 oz cans pinto beans (drained and rinsed)
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 3 tbsp oil

For corn starch slurry:
• 4 tbsp cold water
• 4 tbsp corn starch


Preheat a large pot over medium-high heat.
Put 3 tbsp oil and ground beef.
Season with salt and pepper.
Cook for 5-8 minutes or until the beef changes color.
Add garlic and onion.
Mix well and cook for 3-5 minutes.
Add seasonings – chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and ground cumin.
Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add tomato paste and mix well for a couple of minutes.
Pour low sodium beef broth.
Stir well.
Add chipotle pepper in adobo sauce and 2 tbsp adobo sauce.
Stir, cover the pot and lower the heat.
Let it simmer for an hour.
After an hour, stir the mixture.
Add corn starch slurry to thicken the mixture and stir.
Add the pinto beans and give it a mix.
Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Transfer to a plate.
Serve and enjoy!
