How To Make Buffalo Wings

Buffalo chicken wings are succulent crispy fried chicken wings coated with a spicy tangy sauce. These wings are traditionally served with carrot and celery sticks and a blue cheese dipping sauce. The dish got its name from its origin, Buffalo, New York. In March 4, 1964, Anchor Bar owner, Teressa Bellissimo was asked by his son, Dominic to prepare a late night snack for his friends. She served them this chicken wing dish, which instantly became a hit. From that night, people would flock to the bar to for this new taste sensation and the dish became a regular part of the bar’s menu. Word spread quickly across the globe and Buffalo wing joints sprouted everywhere since then. Many have tried yet, failed to duplicate the original vinegar-based spicy sauce recipe. Today, Buffalo wing joints offer different flavor combinations for chicken wing lovers to choose from and enjoy.

In this recipe, crispy fried chicken wings are glazed with a shiny red delicious sauce made melted butter, onion powder, garlic powder, and hot sauce. These Buffalo chicken wings will definitely be your next favorite party food.

This recipe takes about 90 minutes to make. Serves 4 to 5.

• 500 grams of chicken wings
• 2 cups of cooking oil

• ½ cup flour
• 1 tsp coarse salt
• ½ tsp paprika
• ½ tsp cayenne pepper
• ¼ tsp black pepper

• ⅛ cup of butter
• 1 tsp onion powder
• ½ tsp garlic powder
• ½ cup of hot sauce

Start by cutting through the joint of each chicken wing to give you 3 pieces.
You will not be using the wing sticks, so keep them for your soup stock or other dishes.
Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl.
In a small bowl, mix together flour, coarse salt, paprika, cayenne pepper, and black pepper.
Coat each chicken piece well with the breading mixture.
Once you’re done breading, keep the chicken pieces in the fridge for an hour.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat until the temperature of the oil reaches 180C.
Cook chicken wings for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Place the fried chicken pieces on a wire rack to drain excess oil and keep them crispy.
To prepare the sauce, melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
Stir in onion powder, garlic powder, and hot sauce.
Simmer the sauce for a minute while stirring constantly.
Place the chicken wings on a large bowl.
Pour half of the sauce mixture into the bowl and keep the other half for dipping.
Mix well to make sure the sauce evenly coats each chicken piece.
Transfer the Buffalo wings to a serving platter and serve with the dipping sauce.
