How To Make Classic American Chop Suey

American chop suey is a delicious dinner recipe that consists of ground beef, macaroni, and tomato sauce. This flavorful dish is easy to make. Kids and adults will surely enjoy this food. This recipe takes about 35-40 minutes. Serves 6-7.

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
• 1 lb elbow macaroni (cooked but not fully tender)
• 6 oz tomato juice
• 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
• 14.5 oz can tomato sauce
• 3 tbs butter
• 2 tsp garlic (minced)
• 1 medium onion (chopped)
• 1 medium green bell pepper (chopped)
• 1 tsp basil powder
• 1 tsp oregano powder
• 1 tsp sugar
• 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
• 1/4 cup tomato paste
• Kosher salt to taste

Instructions:

Set a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef.
Cook it for 5 minutes or until it turns brown.
Drain some of the excess oil.
Add butter, onion, green bell pepper, and garlic.
Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add tomato paste, tomato juice, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes.
Add seasonings – basil powder, oregano powder, sugar, black pepper, and salt.
Mix until well combined.
Reduce to medium-low heat.
Let it simmer for 25-30 minutes.
Add cooked but not fully tender elbow macaroni.
Mix well and let it cook for 5 minutes or until macaroni is cooked.
Transfer to a plate.
Serve and enjoy!
