Pizza rolls are perfect as a snack. They are readily available in the freezer section of the grocery store but you can easily make them at home. Store-bought pizza rolls often contain additives and other ingredients which are questionable for health. By making them at home, you choose only high-quality ingredients and do not need to worry about any preservatives. With this recipe, you can make a quick and filling snack which can also be enjoyed by vegetarians. The filling is made from chopped vegetables with herbs and spices cooked in pizza sauce. This is then mixed with mozzarella cheese and stuffed into bread rolls. These pizza rolls will surely satisfy one’s pizza cravings.
• 6 bread slices
• 1 cup of finely chopped green capsicum
• ½ cup of chopped onions
• ¼ cup of chopped carrots
• 1 tbsp cooking oil
• ¼ cup of mozzarella cheese, cubed
• ¼ cup of pizza sauce
• 2 tbsp minced garlic
• 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
• ¼ tsp black pepper powder
• 1 tbsp dried oregano
• ¼ tsp salt
• 1 tbsp vinegar
• 1 tbsp chili sauce
• ½ tbsp all-purpose flour
• 1 tbsp water
• 4 cups of cooking oil
This recipe takes about 25 minutes to make. Serves 6.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Sauté onions for 30 seconds.
Add garlic, then sauté for another 30 seconds.
Add capsicum, carrots, and salt.
Sauté for 1 minute.
Add tomato ketchup, chili sauce, pizza sauce, black pepper, oregano, and vinegar.
Cook for 5 minutes.
Turn off heat and let the filling cool completely.
In a small bowl, mix all-purpose flour and water until you get a pasty consistency.
Once the filling is cool, add cheese and mix well.
Remove the crusts from the bread slices.
Flatten bread slices using a rolling pin.
Fill each bread slice with 1 tbsp of filling.
Brush flour paste on all 4 sides of the bread slices.
Roll the bread slices, then press the sides to seal.
Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
Deep-fry bread rolls over medium heat for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with your favorite dip.

• You can add corn, peas or mushrooms to the filling mixture.
• If you’re serving the pizza rolls to kids who can’t eat spicy foods, you can skip using the chili sauce.
• You can also cook the pizza rolls in the oven. Coat the bread rolls with oil or cooking spray, then bake them in the oven at 425°F for 4 to 5 minutes on each side.
