Durian is a tropical fruit that has been dubbed as the “king of fruits” in Southeast Asia. The term durian originates from Malay-Indonesian languages “duri” which means “spike”. The fruit is covered with spikes and has a very unmistakable odor. It is a sturdy fruit and has been known to harm or even kill people if it falls on their heads. Durian weighs between 2 to 3 kilograms and can grow as large as 30 centimeters. This fruit has a creamy, sticky and buttery flesh that is made into candies, pastries, ice cream, biscuits, milkshakes, and various desserts. This recipe turns durian into a delicious pudding garnished with assorted fruits.

Ideas And Tips:

• Coconut water is the natural clear liquid that is found when cracking open a coconut. It is known for its electrolytes. Coconut water is often given to patients suffering from urinary tract infection. Nowadays, coconut water is available in cans, bottles, and Tetra Paks.

• If you are not comfortable with the odor, you can place the durian flesh in the freezer. This makes the durian lose most of its odor but still retains its creaminess.

• Have a paper towel ready when handing the durian flesh as it will stick to your fingers.
