Baked Tofu (Tofu Lin) Recipe

Here’s a simple, yummy and healthy tofu recipe for you! You only need a few ingredients and a couple of hours to prepare this healthy baked tofu. You can eat it right away after it’s cooked. You can also store it in the fridge for a few days if you want to use it for another recipe.

Ingredients:

• 1 lb tofu (extra firm)
• 2 cups vegetable broth
• 2 garlic cloves (chopped)
• 1/4 cup onion (chopped)
• 2 tsp liquid smoke
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 tsp sea salt
• 1 tbsp sugar
• 2 bay leaves

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cut 1 lb tofu extra firm in half.
Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, add vegetable broth.
Add chopped onions and garlic.
Season with sea salt, sugar, liquid smoke, and olive oil.
Stir until well combined.
Add tofu.
Cover with tin foil or cling film.
Put it inside the fridge and let it marinate overnight.

Prepare two loaf pans.
Get the marinated tofu and place each tofu in the loaf pans.
Fill each pan with the vegetable broth mixture.
Put one bay leaf in each pan.
Place the loaf pans in the preheated oven.
Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours.
Once the vegetable broth mixture is reduced by half, flip each tofu on the other side.
Continue to bake until golden brown.
Once done, you can slice the tofu and serve right away.
You can have the tofu chilled if you want to use it for another recipe.

How To Make Tofu (With Just Soybeans, Lemon, And Water!)

Try this homemade tofu with soymilk, lemon juice, and water! Tofu is a good alternative for meat if you’re a vegan or vegetarian. It is gluten-free and no cholesterol. You can prepare tofu in different ways – stir fry, baked, sauteed, or scrambled.

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup water
• 1 1/2 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Homemade Soymilk:

• 1 cup soybeans
• 2 1/2 cups water

Instructions:

In a cup, add 1/2 cup water and 1 1/2 tbsp of fresh lemon juice.
Stir to combine.
Set aside.

Homemade Soymilk:

Place a cup of soybeans in a jar.
Fill it with water.
Soak the beans overnight.

Once done, drain the water.
Transfer the soybeans to a mixing bowl.
Fill it with fresh water.
Peel off the skin of soybeans by pressing the beans between your fingers.
Throw the skin off and drain the water.
Transfer half of the soybeans to a blender.
Add 2 1/2 cups of water.
Blend for 1-2 minutes on high speed until beans are crushed into fine pieces.
Once done, strain the soymilk using a nut milk bag.
Press the bag to squeeze out all the soymilk.
Transfer the soymilk to a pot.
Set it over high heat and bring to a boil while stirring the soymilk.
Let it boil and keep stirring for a few minutes.
Reduce to medium-low heat.
Let it simmer for at least 10 minutes.
The longer the soy milk simmers, the better its taste.

Once done, remove the pot of soy milk from the heat.
Add half of the lemon juice mixture while stirring the soymilk.
Add the rest of the lemon juice.
Stir soymilk in a back and forth motion.
Continue to stir until tiny lumps form.
Once lumps form, cover the pot.
Set aside and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Prepare a steamer and a pot.
Line the steamer with a cheesecloth.
After 15 minutes, the soymilk curd should be ready.
Transfer it to the cheesecloth-lined steamer.
Squeeze any excess water out.
Fold the cheesecloth tightly around the soymilk curd to form it into a square.
Put some weight on top to squeeze more liquid out of the soymilk curd.
Set it aside for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
After an hour, remove the weights.
Peel away the cheesecloth.
The tofu is ready!

Place the tofu in a bowl of very cold water for it to firm.
You can cook it right away.
You can also store the tofu for up to 2 weeks, just place it in a bowl of cold water and put it in the fridge.

How To Cook Tofu

Here are four delicious ways to cook tofu. This recipe will also use a base sauce or marinade that can be mixed in any way you want. The tofu recipes below can be served as snacks, appetizers, or as a main dinner dish. You can prepare tofu as baked, sautéed, fried, or scrambled. Enjoy!

Base Ingredients:

• a block of extra firm tofu

Set a baking sheet on a work surface.
Place 3-4 sheets of paper towel.
Add a block of extra firm tofu on top.
Cover it with a paper towel.
Put some weight on top of the tofu to squeeze out liquid from the tofu.
Set aside for 30 minutes.

Marinade/Sauce:

• 8-10 oz soy sauce
• 1-2 cups rice vinegar
• some sesame oil
• 2-3 garlic cloves (minced)
• 1 small piece ginger (finely chopped)
• 2-3 tbsp nut butter
• 2-3 tbsp chili garlic paste

Prepare a sauce container.
Add 8-10 oz of soy sauce and 1-2 cups of rice vinegar.
Add some sesame oil, minced garlic, and finely chopped ginger.
Add some nut butter and chili garlic paste.
Mix well to combine.
Set aside.

1. Baked Tofu

Slice the tofu into half-inch pieces.
Cut to squares.
Place the tofu squares in a baking dish.
Pour the marinade over the tofu squares, covering them up.
Cover the dish with a cling film and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Once done, transfer the marinated tofu squares to a parchment-lined baking tray.
Place inside the oven with 400 F heat.
Bake for 35-45 minutes.
Once golden brown, remove from the oven.
Transfer to a plate.
You can eat it right away or serve it with cooked rice.

2. Sautéed Tofu

Set a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add 2 tbsp of olive oil and heat it.
Add the tofu squares into the skillet.
Sauté for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Once done, pour some amount of marinade into the skillet.
Sauté for 5-7 minutes or until marinade has reduced.
Once done, remove from the heat and transfer to a plate.
You can eat it right away or serve it with veggies.

3. Fried Tofu

Set a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add some amount of oil in the skillet to cover the bottom of the skillet.
Heat the oil.
Once heated, add tofu squares into the skillet.
Fry each side for 3-4 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
Once done, transfer the fried tofu squares into a plate covered with kitchen tissue to remove excess oil.
Transfer to a mixing bowl.
Sprinkle some salt.
Pour some amount of the marinade into the bowl.
Toss to coat the fried tofu squares.
Serve and enjoy!

4. Scrambled Tofu

Set a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add 2 tbsp of olive oil and warm it up.
Add the tofu slices to the skillet.
Stir and break the tofu slices into small crumbles using a wooden spoon or spatula.
Pour some amount of the marinade to the skillet.
Stir until well combined.
Stir and cook for 15-18 minutes.
Once done, transfer to a plate.
Serve with rice.
