Bubble tea originated from Taiwan, China. It was invented in Taichung in the 1980s. Bubble refers to the tapioca balls also known as boba or pearls. Most bubble teas have milk or fruit nectars. With this recipe, you can enjoy this refreshing and chewy drink at home. You can use any type of tea and add as many pearls as you want. In less than half an hour, you’ll be sipping away this delicious bubble milk tea.
This recipe takes about 20 to 30 minutes to make. Serves 2.
Ingredients:
Tea:
• 1 cup of boiling water
• 2 tea bags
Pearls/Boba:
• 5 cups of boiling water
• Half a cup of tapioca pearls
• 1 tbsp of brown sugar
• 1 cup of fruit nectar
• 1 cup of whole milk
• 1 tbsp of brown sugar
Instructions:
Boil water. Add tea bags in a cup and pour water. Let it steep for 10 minutes.
Place tea in the fridge.
Follow instructions on how to cook tapioca pearls. Boil water and add tapioca.
Add brown sugar and let it cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
Drain and set aside.
In a blender, add milk, fruit nectar, and tea. Blend until slightly frothy.
Scoop tapioca pearls into a glass and add milk tea.

• This recipe used 5-minute tapioca pearls. Always read the instructions on the package. Some tapioca pearls take longer to cook.
• Tapioca pearls cannot be stored overnight so always make a fresh batch for your milk tea.
• You can use any type of fruit nectar you want. This recipe uses mango puree. You can even make your own puree using your favorite fruits.
• Look for large diameter straws so that the tapioca pearls can be sipped through them.
