Bang Bang Cauliflower (Easy Vegan Appetizer Idea!)

Bang bang cauliflower is a crispy and delicious vegan appetizer that is easy to prepare. The cauliflower florets are fried and prepared with a savory sauce. This recipe takes about 45 minutes to prepare and cook.

Ingredients:

• 1 medium cauliflower head (cut into florets)
• some canola oil for frying

Buttermilk Mix

• 1 cup non-dairy milk
• 1 tbsp vinegar
• 1 tsp ground coriander
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/4 tsp garlic powder
• 1/2 tsp turmeric
• 1/2 tsp paprika

Flour Mix

• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp turmeric
• 1/2 tsp paprika
• black pepper to taste
• 2 tbsp buttermilk mix

Bang Bang Sauce

• 1/3 cup vegan mayo
• 3 tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce
• 2 tsp sriracha

Instructions:

Buttermilk Mix

Prepare a mixing bowl.
Pour non-dairy milk into the bowl.
Add vinegar.
Add the seasonings – ground coriander, salt, garlic powder, turmeric and paprika.
Mix well to combine.
Set aside.

Meanwhile, steam the cauliflower florets for 4-5 minutes.
Once done, drain and rinse the florets.
Put the florets into the bowl of buttermilk mix.
Mix well to coat the florets.
Set aside and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Flour Mix

Prepare another mixing bowl.
Add all-purpose flour into the bowl.
Season with salt, turmeric, paprika and black pepper.
Mix well to combine.
Get two tablespoons from the buttermilk mix.
Add into the flour mix.
Mix well to combine.
Set aside.

Bang Bang Sauce

Prepare a sauce bowl.
Add the ingredients for the bang bang sauce.
Mix well to combine.
Set aside.

Assembly

Dip buttermilk coated cauliflower florets into the flour mix.

Set a frying pan over medium-high heat.
Add canola oil and let it heat.
Once heated, fry the cauliflower florets until golden brown.
Remove from the pan and transfer to a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Once cooled, put the fried florets into a serving plate or bowl.
Drizzle the bang bang sauce over the fried florets.
Serve and enjoy!

Tips and ideas:

You can use gluten-free flour as a replacement for all-purpose flour if you need to.

Prepare a healthy and yummy treat with this cauliflower wings recipe. This is a perfect dish for snacks or appetizers. The cauliflower wings can be made in three flavors – barbecue sauce, hot sauce, and vinegar sauce. Serve these cauliflower wings in a flavorful mayo dip and with some “dip veggies” such as carrots and celery.

Ingredients:

• 1 large cauliflower head (cut into florets)
• 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup non-dairy milk
• 1/2 cup water
• 2 tsp garlic powder
• 2 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp cumin powder
• 1 tsp paprika
• 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
• 1/4 tsp sea salt

Barbecue Sauce:

• 1 tbsp vegan butter
• 1 cup barbecue sauce

Hot Sauce:

• 1 tbsp vegan butter
• 1 cup barbecue sauce

Vinegar Sauce:

• 1 tbsp vegan butter
• 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
• 1 tbsp water
• salt to taste

Instructions:

Barbecue Sauce:

In a small pot, melt 1 tbsp of vegan butter.
Add 1 cup of barbecue sauce.
Mix to combine.
Transfer to a mixing bowl.
Set aside.

Hot Sauce:

In a small pot, melt 1 tbsp of vegan butter.
Add 1 cup of hot sauce.
Mix to combine.
Transfer to a mixing bowl.
Set aside.

Vinegar Sauce:

Melt 1 tbsp of vegan butter.
Transfer to a mixing bowl.
Add 3 tbsp of apple cider vinegar 1 tbsp of water.
Mix to combine.
Set aside.

Preheat oven to 450 F.

In a mixing bowl, add 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour.
Pour 1/2 cup of non-dairy milk and 1/2 cup of water.
Add the seasonings – garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, paprika, ground black pepper, and sea salt.
Whisk until batter is well combined and smooth.
Dip the cauliflower pieces into the batter.
Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Put inside the preheated oven.
Bake for 25 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove from the oven and flip each piece on the other side.
Put it back in the oven and continue to bake for 15 minutes.
Once done, remove from the oven.
Divide the baked cauliflower into three groups.
Dip the first group of the baked cauliflower pieces into the barbecue sauce.
Place them back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Dip the second group into the vinegar sauce, then sprinkle some salt.
Place them back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Dip the third group of the baked cauliflower into the hot sauce.
Place them back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Put them back in the oven.
Bake for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Once done, remove from the oven.
Transfer to a serving plate.
Serve mayo dip, celery sticks, and carrot sticks.

How To Roast Brussels Sprouts

Are you a Brussels sprouts lover? Roasted Brussels sprouts are perfect snacks or appetizers. This is a quick and easy dish to prepare. Serve with a roast dinner, or just munch away on this healthy and yummy treat with your friends on a weekend afternoon!

Ingredients:

• 1 lb Brussels sprouts (halved)
• 1 tsp olive oil
• 1/2 tsp kosher salt
• fresh black pepper to taste
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 400ºF.

Rinse one pound of Brussels sprouts with cold water.
Dry the Brussels sprouts very well.
Once they are dried well, trim the ends of the sprouts.
Slice each sprout in half.
Put them in a bowl.
Drizzle with 1 tsp of olive oil.
Season with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Toss the Brussels sprouts until well coated.
Transfer onto a baking tray.
Arrange the sprouts in a way that the cut side is facing down the tray.
Place inside the oven at a 400ºF temperature.
Bake for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, remove the tray of sprouts and give them a shake to get them moving, but don’t flip them over.
Put it back in the oven and continue to bake for 15 more minutes.
Once done, remove from the oven.
Transfer to a serving bowl.
Sprinkle with some kosher salt as desired.
Serve and enjoy!
